Manchester United are under pressure about the future of their star player David De Gea as he is thinking about a suitable move away from Old Trafford this summer which has taken him in the top of Manchester United transfer rumour. De Gea might be a successor of Iker Casillas at Barnabeu.
United’s boss Louis van Gaal has informed that De Gea will decide his future with the Red Devils as the Spaniard has been offered a huge sum to prolong his career at Old Trafford. Van Gaal has admitted that he is totally toothless in this crucial situation. Reportedly MANU offered £200,000 a-week to continue his service at United.
“It is taking a long time now”, Van Gaal told when asked about De Gea’s contract extension talks. “It can always take place, but I am not the boss. (according to Goal.com)
United’s manager has hinted that only De Gea can take the final decision whether he stays with the Red Devils or leave England to play in his home ground.
“The player is the decision maker and he can say yes or no. I want him to stay, but you will have to ask David De Gea, not me. He has to sign, but we have granted him a lot of money.”
The Dutchman also thinks that United’s summer targets will choose their own destinations, not him.
“At the end, the player has to decide. Not the manager and not the manager of the selling club. It’s also dependable on the market. The club is reliable of the market and the selling clubs and the buying clubs.”
“It’s difficult to finalise all the decisions you are making because the players are the boss, not the manager. Every time you read that I buy this player, or have communicated with that player, it is not like that.”
The 24-year-old Spain international has been terrific this season delivering quality performance and protecting the Red Devils from conceding goals in 10 matches up to now. His excellent show under the goal posts has paved the way for MANU to grab the third position in the league table, keep them 1 point ahead of their arch rivals Manchester City.
De Gea is the only player for United who has been shortlisted for PFA player of the year award, but he is yet to sign a new contract deal which is giving a rise in current transfer rumours regarding his departure. He has improved a lot since his arrival at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a fee of £17.8 million creating a British record for any goalkeeper.
Real Madrid, the current Champions League title holder, is monitoring De Gea situation as the Spanish goalkeeper is their prime target this summer,as per recent transfer rumour. Madrid has been forced to look for a replacement of Iker Casillas as the Saint’s performance is underwhelming. The captain of Spain had lost his place in the first team to Diego Lopez in the past, but the current Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti restored him in the first eleven.
Madrid brought Keylor Navas at Barnabeu from Levante to support Casillas in the last summer. But Casillas has been regular in the first team this campaign, and achieved his 50th Champions League clean sheets for Real Madrid.
Recently Casillas has expressed his desire to stay at Barnabeu even if he becomes the second choice under the goal post. This might help De Gea to make a vital decision.
MANU will try to tie De Gea with a suitable offer to keep both sides happy. De Gea has only one year left in his career will allow him to see out his contract and join Real Madrid on a free transfer. The Red Devils will consider their chances to sell the Spaniard as they will earn a lot of money by selling him in upcoming summer window rather than letting him go after his contract expiration.
Louis van Gaal will definitely try to keep his best players at Old Trafford to carry their recent good form to the next season. But recent situation has compelled De Gea to be a part of Manchester United transfer rumour which is creating United’s fans worry about the future of their reliable goalkeeper.
