Manchester United is considering about bringing two Borussia Dortmund’s key players in this summer window which might cost them around £50 million.
The German club would most likely lose their two valuable players, Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan, despite managing a rise up in the league table after their horrible beginning of this year’s campaign. This transfer news seems very legitimate as both players would like to move away from the German club which would most likely miss the Champions League next season.
Man United’s boss Louis van Gaal has been sanctioned £150 million to spend in this summer window to land big guns as he did earlier fetching Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind. Van Gaal’s summer signings have performed well enough to get the team back in the top half of the table, and now it seems that they will finish the current season in the top four, gaining promotion in the prestigious Champions League.
The Red devils have confirmed their interest in signing the Bundesliga duo since they are not willing to prolong their career with the former Bundesliga champion. The World Cup winning defender has agreed to pen the deal with the English giant to make a significant move in the British top flight, as per Mirror reporter Adrian Kajumba.
Reportedly Borussia might consider cash- in on him as per their boss Jurgen Kloop who has admitted Hummels departure from Signal Iduna Park is not unrealistic as Man United is keen to land the center-back at Old Trafford.
Kloop told, “He’s good enough for Manchester United. He told me he’s thinking about it”, as per David Amoyal of Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.
The Black and Yellows were a strong contender for the Champions League title as well as Bundesliga Honours not a long ago, but this season they were just a shadow of their past glory failing to perform according to their reputation. They were at the bottom of the league table, very close to a demotion which played an incisive part for their star players to re-think their future with the club. It is quite understandable that the ambitious players like Hummels and Gundogan will make a move from the Westfalenstadion for a better career with a chance to win their individual silverware.
The Red Devils boss Van Gaal has been interested in the 26-year-old German whose bold performance in the last year’s World Cup was undeniably a key factor for Germany to uphold the tournament’s trophy. Moreover Hummels’ statement to Sir Alex Ferguson about joining the English giant if he would ever leave Dortmund is another sign to prove his intention to arrive at Old Trafford, as per Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.
United is need of a powerful center defender who is good both in the air and with the ball. They are struggling since the exit of their defense duo Vidic and Ferdinand which forcing them to bring a governing body to lead the defense line. The addition of Hummels might resolve their present crisis.
Reportedly the Red Devils are on the verge of tying down Hummels’ national and club compatriot Ilkay Gundogan in an exciting double-raid. If the transfer news comes true, then his acquisition will cost £15 million. His current contract will run out in January which will allow him to join any club for a free-transfer. The midfielder rejected to sign a £100,000-a-week contract renewal deal, which attracting other clubs to bid for his service.
Gundogan is known for his better passing, chance creation and involvement in the play. He can also play as a defensive midfielder and his impressive work with the ball might make him a suitable replacement for Michael Carrick. His elegance can be combined with the Spanish midfielder Herrera to form a deadly midfield duo.
This transfer news is yet to become official announcement. To compete for the next year’s possible titles, the addition of this pair might improve the team-ability to increase their chances.
