The English giant, Manchester United, have put Di Maria’s performance under scrutiny to evaluate the winger’s future at Old Trafford after his failure to flourish under Louis van Gaal this season. United’s boss van Gaal recently has indicated the club will evaluate the Argentine international’s possibility of extending his career with the Red Devils after finishing this year’s campaign. The Red Devils also show their interest in Lazio center back Stefan de Vrij to inject solidity in their defense line. These two players have been a part of MANU transfer rumours recently.
The Argentine winger arrived at England’s top-flight from Real Madrid for a record British transfer fee of £59.7 million last August, and after a promising start; he failed to fulfill the expectation anticipated from a no. 7 jersey holder.Reportedly van Gaal is not worried about Maria’s off form, but couldn’t guarantee the Argentine’s further staying at Old Trafford.
After long seven weeks, Di Maria managed to grab a spot in the first eleven against West Bromwich Albion but again failed to uplift his fallen performance. The dynamic winger has found the net only four times and provided 12 assists so far in his 28 league appearances in which he came from the bench eight times.
Last month van Gaal admitted he might let go of Maria because of the hostile incidents the 27-year-old faced in Cheshire last January. But the Red Devils boss believes Maria can make a good comeback in the upcoming season.
“I assume Maria shall and he is doing his best,” Van Gaal said. “I am happy with his attitude, so that is not a problem.
“The manager and the club is always dependable on the choice of the player himself, the player takes decision, so we shall see what he decides because he cannot say he has had a splendid season here.
“But the decision is not only down to him because we hold a contract, so we shall converse, always with every player, evaluation, as I do constantly.
“Then we talk to each other about the future and that is with every individual player.”
Van Gaal insists that Maria will get back his sublime form in the forthcoming season, but discloses the agile midfielder’s incapability to follow United’s playing style.
“You have to adapt to our philosophy and that is also tricky for him, probably. Normally he shall have a fantastic season and I have no doubt in that.”
Stefan de Vrij Speculation:
Manchester United are considering about a suitable move for Lazio defender Stefan DI Vrij in this summer window to strengthen their unstable defense. Reportedly the Red Devils have offered £18.9 million to lure the Dutch international.
MANU have conceded 35 goals this season and managed to keep 10 clean sheets in their 35 league matches. Their back four has remained underwhelming throughout the entire season, including their recent three in a row league defeat.
Van Gaal has been an admirer of de Vrij since he worked with the 23-year-old during the World Cup 2014, and without a doubt the Dutch international can be a boost in the defense line.
According to Fooball Italia, Lazio President Claudio Lotto refused to accept any bid from MANU but the Red Devils are very optimistic to complete the deal and they will launch another bid to pull off the high-rated center back’s service.
The rumour mill is still running and more players will be added in MANU transfer rumours soon. At this moment, Di Maria’s future at Old Trafford and de Vrij’s arrival in the EPL are creating a lot of interest.
