Recent reports are indicating that the Spanish giants are in a rush to complete the signing as soon as possible. This has left the Barcelona transfer rumour buzzing after the signing of Sevilla’s Alex Vidal.
Barcelona have shown their interest in Gundogan already and been pursuing the German since they got confirmation of Xavi’s departure. It seems that they have made some progress as the Catalan club have already sent their medical team in Germany twice to confirm Gundogan’s physical fitness. The Catalans want to observe Gundogan’s back injury which compelled him to stay out of the pitch for one and a half year. According to Sport, the medical staff has given the green signal to go for the deal and it’s only a matter of time before they confirm their second summer signing.
President Josep Maria Bartomeu wants to make sure some crucial signings are completed right before the Presidential elections. According to the Law, He might have to go down on June 9 and in the remaining decisive hours; he will desperately try to seal some major deals.
The Catalan club have a transfer ban until the next January which says that they can’t buy players in this summer. But they can make agreements with the players which give them some options to make the most of this transfer window rather than wait for the next window. They can sign a player and then loan him back to the club or they can bring the player and wait till the ban gets lifted. This can actually work in Gunogan’s favor since Dortmund won’t take part in the Champions league, so he can continue his career with the BVB till January.
According to the ongoing Barcelona transfer rumours, the 24-year-old will be the successor of Xavi’s legacy. It can surely be assumed that Xavi is a one in a million and his place can never be replaced, but the empty spot must be filled with another suitable talent. Gundogan has the ability to create chances, pass the ball forward and at the same time, he can be physical to restrain the opponent’s attackers which will help the World Cup winning midfielder to play alongside Iniesta and Rakitic.
The energetic midfielder has played a decisive role to save Borussia Dortmund from relegation. Gundogan has a year left on his present contract with Borussia and clearly there hasn’t been any indication of extending his contract which is allowing the Barcelona transfer rumour buzzing.
